Karachi Whites well placed in U-19 final

KARACHI, Oct 1: Karachi Whites were sitting pretty after the opening day of the four-day final of the National Junior (Under-19) Grade-I Cricket Championship against Lahore Blues at Multan Cricket Stadium, Multan on Tuesday.

According to details available here, Karachi Whites were 52 for no loss in their first innings at close of play with skipper Khalid Latif (28) and Mubashir Ahmed (16) at the crease.

Earlier, after winning the toss and electing to bat first, Lahore Blues were bundled out for 171 in 71 overs. Azhar Ali top-scored with 58.

Pacemen Sharif Asadullah captured four for 46 and Tabish Khan two for 48. Off-spinner Aftab Ahmed claimed two for 45 while slow left-armer Faraz Ahmed took one for 26.

Meanwhile, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) failed to fax scorecard of the all-important match to media. Efforts to contact the PCB officials proved futile.
