KARACHI: Pakistan's central bank will announce on Jan. 29 its monetary policy for the subsequent two months, Syed Wasimuddin, chief spokesman for the State Bank of Pakistan, said on Tuesday. In the last monetary policy review in November, the central bank raised its key discount rate by 50 basis points to 14 per cent because of persistent inflation due to government borrowing from the State Bank of Pakistan.
