Pakistan 67-1 in reply to NZ's 275

HAMILTON, New Zealand: Pakistan has overcame the loss of a wicket in its first over to reach 67-1 in reply to New Zealand's first innings of 275 at lunch on day two of the first test.

Opener Taufeeq Umar hit nine boundaries on his way to an unbeaten 42 as the tourists began a rapid pursuit of New Zealand's total. Azhar Ali was 23 not out at lunch on Saturday.

New Zealand resumed at 260-7 but lasted only 7.5 overs and added 15 runs before its first innings ended.

Tim Southee was out at his overnight score of 56 and Kane Williamson reached 50 to record the fourth half century of the innings, but fell on that score.

Tanvir Ahmed took 4-63 for Pakistan and left-arm spinner Abdur Rehman 3-51.
