Blasphemy convicts shifted to Sahiwal jail

SAHIWAL, Sept 30: Three convicts, including two blasphemers, have been shifted from Lahore Kot Lakhpat Jail to Sahiwal Central Jail for security reason on the orders of the Home Department, Punjab.

Wajeehul Hassan of Iqbal Town, Lahore, had been awarded death sentence and 13 years hard jail by an additional sessions judge, Lahore, on July 27, 2002. He had murdered Yousaf, a convict in the blasphemy case, in Lahore Kot Lakhpat Jail. The security personnel had demanded the shifting of Wajeehul Hassan from the Lahore jail.

Two brothers, Saleem Masih and Rashid Masih, were convicted in a blasphemy case by an additional sessions judge, Pasrur, on May 11, 2000. The judge had handed them down 35 years rigorous imprisonment and fined Rs75,000 each. They were also shifted from the Kot Lakhpat jail to Sahiwal Central Jail.
