BADIN, Sept 29: The PPP candidate from NA-225, Dr Fehmida Mirza has expressed doubts about the fairness of the elections in the face of “victimization of even the party sympathisers”.

Speaking at a press conference here on Sunday, she urged the Election Commission to intervene.

Dr Mirza, citing instances of excesses against party workers, said that two sons of a People’s Party Parliamentarians candidate from PS-57, Haji Abdul Karim Bhurgari, had been transferred and asked to leave their health units in 24 hours. She termed it a violation of the rules and regulations.

She further said that the Pakistan Muslim League-Q workers were openly threatening the PPP workers of dire consequences for holding corner meetings in particular areas.

Dr Mirza deplored that power supply of the PPP corner meeting, which was held on Saturday in Ahmed Rajo in Shaheed Fazal Rahu taluka, was disconnected.

She also accused the rival group of attacking the PPP workers. She added that several of the PPP workers were injured.

The PPP candidate said that no action was taken against the attackers.
