KARACHI: The Sindh High Court (SHC) on Tuesday declared ineligible six District Coordination Officers (DCO) from Sindh and directed the government to dismiss them. SHC’s Justice Shahid Anwar Bajwa and Justice Tufail H. Ibrahim issued the order in response to a petition filed by one Gul Hasan Channa. The petition stated that the appointments of the six DCOs were not based on merit. It further stated that appointment for the position of DCO required the candidate to have been trained at the Civil Services Academy, Lahore or the Provincial Services Academy, Peshawar, or the candidate be trained in the Assistant Collector Part 2. However, as the petition stated, six DCOs in Sindh did not fulfill the requirements. The Sindh High Court, subsequently, directed the government to dismiss the six officials and appoint officers who fulfill the criteria for the position.
