HYDERABAD, Sept 28: The GOC Hyderabad, Maj Gen Tariq Saleem Malik, on Saturday reviewed the city’s development schemes at a meeting held at the 18 Div headquarters.
The district Nazim, Dr Makhdoom Rafiquzzaman and the district coordination officer, Mir Hussain Ali, briefed the GOC about development activities.
The GOC was informed that 361 development had either been completed or will be finished soon. These schemes are related to the Annual Development Programme (ADP) 2001-2002, Khushhal Pakistan Programme (KPP) phase-III, Sugar Cess and the district council development fund.
The DCO Hyderabad, Mir Hussain Ali, informed the participants of the meeting that 173 development schemes of KPP phase-III were being implemented at a cost of over Rs221.21 million. He added that 83.95 percent work on these schemes had been completed.
He said that work on 42 schemes, under sugar development fund, was being carried out at the cost of over Rs102.44 million.
Work on 70 schemes, out of a total of 74 development schemes under the district council development fund, had been completed at the cost of over Rs47.1 million.
The DCO informed that Rs184.9 million had been spent on the 72 schemes under the ADP 2001-02. These projects, he added, were being implemented by the district as well as the provincial governments.
GOC Hyderabad Major General Tariq Saleem Malik stressed on the need for qualitative work besides calling for completing the schemes within the stipulated period.
The DCO also informed the meeting that Rs83.92 million, out of a total annual allocation of Rs417.2 million, had been disbursed for carrying out work on 57 development schemes of the financial year 2002-03.
Later, the GOC Hyderabad, accompanied by the district Nazim and the DCO, visited various city areas, including Phulelli Channel, By-pass Road and Jamshoro to inspect the ongoing development work.
SAU: Renowned scholar and educationist, Dr Nabi Bux Khan Baloch, has urged the students to work hard otherwise they would lag far behind in the present age of competition.
He was delivering his presidential speech at the mid-term festival to mark the silver jubilee celebrations of the Sindh Agriculture University, Tando Jam, at the university campus, on Thursday.
Dr Baloch pointed out that he too was instrumental in the establishment of the university, which was established before the partition of the sub-continent.
He said the university had rendered yeomen services for the Sindh and Balochistan in the field of agricultural education.
