LAHORE: Pakistan Navy will defend their title in the upcoming National Games boxing event, which is being held at the Amanullah Boxing Stadium in Peshawar from December 25 to 31. Olympian referee/judge Ali Akber Shah Qadri has been appointed as a the technical delegate while referee judge Ghulam Hussain Patni will look after the event as a chairman jury and Dr Amjad Rahim appointed as the official doctor. Medical weighing-in of the boxers will be held earlier in the morning on December 26 at the venue. Twelve teams are taking part in the event including Pakistan Army, Pakistan Air Force (PAF), Wapda, Pakistan Railways, Police, Higher Education Commission (HEC), Islamabad, Sindh, Balochistan, Punjab and host province Khyber Pakhtunkhwa besides the defending champions. Around one hundred boxers will seen in action from all ten categories — 49kg, 52, 56, 60, 64, 69, 75, 81, 91 and 91-plus. The Pakistan Boxing Federation (PBF) has decided to introduce Swiss timing scoring machine for precision. To avoid any controversial draw, Waheed Maqsood will be head of the system and make computerised draws first time in the Games’ history.
