LAHORE, Sept 27: The Chief Justice of the Lahore High Court reserved on Friday judgment on a writ petition seeking a ban on all the 10 Muslim League factions.

Petitioner-lawyer M.D. Tahir submitted that none of the Muslim League factions was the genuine heir of the real League which led the struggle for independence under the eminent leadership of Quaid-i-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah.

He submitted that Nawaz, Chatha, Quaid-i-Azam, Functional, Qasim, Zia, Mominjee, Saifullah, Qayyum and Qari Saifullah factions of the Muslim League were led by those believing in making a quick buck by hook or crook. These factions were bringing a bad name to the original League, formed for the welfare of the common man. All the factions thus required to be banned permanently.

UC EMPLOYEES: Justice Ijaz Ahmed Chaudhry has sought parawise comments of the government on a writ petition filed by the Punjab Local Government employees, posted in the union councils.

Counsel Moazzam Iqbal submitted that the petitioners were posted as accounts clerks, secretaries and project assistants in union councils without notifying any formula for their service structure, seniority and promotions.

They should also be paid salaries for July and August.

POLICE REPRIMANDED: Justice M. Javed Buttar reprimanded the police for harassing the daughter-in-law of the late Mina Pehlwan for the arrest of her brother.

Appearing on behalf of Bano Bibi, advocate Raja Abdur Rehman submitted that no case had been registered agains her or her children. The Garhi Shahu police continued raiding her house for the arrest of her brother wanted in robbery cases.
