Support women’s sports
Despite living in a male dominating society, Pakistani women are doing well in almost every field. For instance, recently, Pakistani sportswomen have proved their skills by their tremendous performance in different games recently. Naseem Hameed won the gold medal and the title of fastest South Asian woman.
Unfortunately, women’s sport has never been given its due importance in this part of the world. At the time of T-20 2009, everyone was stuck to the television to watch the semi-finals and final matches but sadly there isn’t much buzz for the women’s cricket team. We didn’t even know the names of Pakistani women cricketers.
On the other hand, whether it is a victory or a match-fixing scandal, each and every issue regarding men’s sports is highlighted in the media but sadly there is no place for women! We should recognise and appreciate our women players so that youngsters can follow them as their role models.
There are many young girls in Pakistan who want to make a career in sports, but in our society parents don’t allow their daughters to go and play in front of men.
In such circumstances, the performance of our sports women in both the recently played Asian Games and SAARC games has paved a way for all those girls dreaming to do well in sports.
At the moment, when Pakistan has been going through the aftermath of the flood and men’s cricket team has been facing downfall, it is thanks to the Pakistani women’s cricket team there we have something to rejoice in.
It’s my request to all those who consider women’s sports less important than men’s to open up their minds and do away with the barriers in order to support women’s sports.

Boring articles
While history plays an important part in one’s life but it doesn’t mean we should keep on revisiting it. I am bored of reading Time check and Literati.
There is nothing interesting in them. It is my request to the YW team to please include fun stuff and exclude the boring regular columns; we like stories a lot so please increase the number of stories every week.

More entertainment
I am a regular reader of YW. The newly included columns like This week in history and Myths and mysteries are very nice additions to the magazine.
They are unique and very informative. However, I still think YW needs to include more fun stuff in it.

It’s just a language
This is with reference to the short story It’s just a language by Mehreen Ali (YW, November 6, 2010). I agree with the writer that English is just a language and a subject like math, science or any other. However, it is completely wrong to judge someone on the basis of the way they speak English.
We all are strong and weak in certain subjects, it is likely that if someone is not good at speaking English s/he may be good at other subjects. One should not be biased when judging a person.
