LAHORE, Sept 25: Rivers’ flow on Wednesday maintained its low trend with total supplies touching down to 114,900 cusecs — almost 35 per cent of the total national consumption of over 300,000 cusecs.
Resultantly, the level of both dams dropped further as some 72,600 cusecs additional water was released to meet irrigation requirements downstream.
Tarbela Dam on Wednesday came down to 1521.30 feet level as water flow at the Indus went down to 63,000 cusecs and the release increased to 110,000 cusecs. Similarly, Mangla Dam also witnessed a drop to 1298.75 feet level as the Jhelum supply decreased to 18,200 cusecs against the release of 40,000 cusecs.
According to computerized calculations made by the meteorological office, both rivers are expected to maintain their low flow during the next 24 hours.
The River Chenab also dropped further down to 21,100 cusecs and the River Kabul to 12,600 cusecs.
According to the barrage report, Jinnah had an inflow of 125,400 cusecs and an outflow of 112,400 cusecs, Chashma 128,000 and 105,000, Taunsa 104,300 and 82,400, Guddu 109,900 and 86,200, Sukkur 82,500 and 27,800 and Kotri 24,900 with no outflow.
