SHIKARPUR, Sept 25: The president of the Sindh Democratic Alliance, Imtiaz Shaikh, has blamed major political parties for the deteriorating political situation and destruction of the country’s economy.

He was speaking at a convention organised by the SDA (Youth Wing) here on Tuesday.

Shaikh, who is a candidate for PS-11 (Shikarpur-III), said that the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) and other political parties had done nothing for the public welfare. Instead, he said, they had created many problems.

He said the SDA provided an alternative political platform to the people of the province to wage struggle for restoration of their rights.

Urging the people to shun petty differences, he said that all Sindhis should forge unity and work towards peace and progress of the province.

The central joint secretary of the PML-Q, Ghulam Mustafa Bhutto, the district general secretary, Mir Babal Khan Bhayo, SDA’s youth district organiser, Ayaz Abro, the president of the PML-Q’s youth wing, Pir Bux Shaikh, Nusrat Soomro and other SDA leaders spoke on the occasion.

SSGC EMPLOYEES: At least 98 employees of the Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) have complained that they were terminated by the SSGC authorities in May 2002 without any justification and were not reinstated despite rejection of the termination orders by the Federal Services Tribunal, Islamabad.

At a meeting held on Tuesday, they adopted a resolution demanding President Pervez Musharraf, federal minister for petroleum and gas, and chairman and managing director of the SSGC to pass orders for reinstatement of their services.

GARHI YASIN ITTEHAD: A meeting of the notables of Garhi Yasin Taluka was held at Garhi Yasin on Monday to consider the formation of the Garhi Yasin Ittehad.

The meeting unanimously formed the Garhi Yasin Ittehad aimed at supporting clean, honest, and upright candidates in the coming election in the interest of the people of the area.

The meeting was attended by Ziauddin Siddiqui, Mir Mohammad Khan Wagan, Sardar Lutfullah Khan Dal, Sardar Amanullah Khan Mungrani, Prof Mohammad Anwar Memon, and Tariq Karim Soomro.
