HYDERABAD, Sept 25: The provincial minister for law and human rights, Justice (retd) Abdul Qadir Halepota, has called upon the philanthropists to come forward and help special children to enable them to become respectable members of society.
He was speaking as the chief guest at a seminar on ‘Rehabilitation of the Physically Handicapped’ at the press club on Tuesday.
The seminar was organized by the Social Welfare Department, Hyderabad.
The minister said that in order to eliminate a sense of deprivation among the handicapped people efforts should be made for their rehabilitation.
He said that President Pervez Musharraf had already reserved 2 per cent quota of government jobs in the federal as well as provincial departments to protect the rights of special people.
He said there was no ban on jobs, specially for appointing special people, and added that they could apply and get jobs after completing the necessary formalities.
He said that these people could play a vital role in the society, and they would be encouraged in such a way so that they could earn their livelihood with respect and dignity.
Earlier, Syed Qamaruzzaman Shah, president, Chamber of Agriculture, has said that the government should strengthen the status of institutions and help special people from Baitul Maal funds.
He assured to provide all possible help to the RCPH, Hyderabad.
