ISLAMABAD: Individual men and women athletes along with two squads were selected for the Asian Paralympics after their final trials ended here at the Pakistan Sports Complex on Thursday.
The Asian Paralympic Games are scheduled to be held in China from Dec 12.
Akbar Ali Mughal, Pakistan’s Paralympics squad coach, said after the final trials several athletes from different disciplines, six each for men-blind, goal-ball team and women’s sitting volleyball, have been selected.
Akbar, who is also founder of women’s sitting volleyball team, hoped that the selected players, motivated to perform well, would produce good results at the Paralympics.

Men’sAthletics: Mohammad Shoaib (100m, 200m, long jump); Haider Ali (100m, discus throw, javelin throw, long jump); Mudassar Baig (100m, 200m, 400m, 4x100m relay); Asghar Ali (100m, 200m, 4x100m relay, shot put); Faisal Younis (100m, discus throw, javelin throw); Mohammad Awais (100m, javelin throw, long jump); Imranullah (100m, 200m, long jump); Raheel Anwar (100m, 200m and 4x100 relay); Mubashir Hussain (100m, 200m, long jump); Khurram Shahzad (100m, 200m and long jump); Mohammad Ijaz (100m, discus throw, shot put); Hazrat Wali (100m, discus throw, javelin throw); Qazi Zeeshan Gul (100m, 400m, shot put).
Goal-ball squad: Mudassir, Amir, Habib, Usama, Waheed Aziz.
Women’sAthletics: Anila Izzat Baig (100m, javelin throw, long jump).
Sitting volleyball squad: Nazma Bibi, Rukhsana Bibi, Alia Tabassum, Anila Izzat Baig, Hajra Qayyum, Saima Shabbir.—APP
