MULTAN, Sept 24: Sri Lanka ‘A’ enjoyed their best day of the tour despite conceding a marginal first innings lead to Pakistan ‘A’ on the second day of the second and final Test at Multan Stadium Tuesday.

Half-centuries from Naveed Nawaz (unbeaten 66 off 140 balls, six fours) and Jehan Mubarak (63 off 108 balls, nine fours), who put on 119 for the third wicket, helped their side to 199 for three in their second innings for an overall lead of 167 at draw of stumps.

Earlier, a 91-run partnership between Bazid Khan and Asim Kamal helped Pakistan ‘A’ obtain a lead of 32 runs. The home team, once reeling at 91 for six, managed to reach 216 in reply to Sri Lanka’s first innings tally of 184.

Bazid made an unbeaten 59 off 91 balls with six fours and two sixes despite being forced to retire hurt because of a hand injury. Asim scored a patient 43, stroking four boundaries during his 144-ball innings.
