THIS is apropos of Mr Abdullah's letter 'Only power thieves should be punished' (Nov 28).The reality is that not a single unit of electricity can be stolen without express or implied consent/patronage of an employee of the electric supply company. The greater the theft, the more senior is the official behind the theft.
As such, instead of sacking the official(s), it is extremely strange, highly unfair, completely improper and grossly unjust to declare that “areas will face prolonged loadshedding hours where electricity is stolen frequently”.
To make our institutions pro-public, trustworthy and honourable, we need not to hire plants/equipment but manpower abiding by the law, relying upon honest earnings and inclined to lawful means of living.
