HYDERABAD, Sept 22: A one-day seminar on Legal Position of the Legal Framework Order 2002 has demanded the government to present all the constitutional amendments before the next parliament and introduce only those amendments which were in the interest of the nation and the country.
The seminar was held at the press club on Sunday on the occasion of the fourth death anniversary of the coordinator of the HRCP Special Task Force (STF) for Sindh, Shakeel Ahmed Pathan.
It was presided over by Rochi Ram.
The speakers criticised the Legal Framework Order containing a package of 29-constitutional amendments that had been introduced by the government.
Mr Rochi said that the Constitution and law were two different things as the latter always protected the rights of the people.
Unfortunately, he added, in our country the Constitution had been badly mutilated over the years as its sanctity was constantly violated.
He traced the constitutional history of the country, pointing out how the Constitution was held in abeyance by successive rulers.
He was quite critical of the role played by the judiciary, especially the apex court.
He charged that the Supreme Court always issued a certificate to the dictators.
