SWABI, Oct 27: Students have lost interest in sports and the quality of games have suffered due to destruction of a large number schools in the 2005 earthquake and the ongoing war on terror, said physical education teachers (PETs) during a meeting here on Wednesday.
They said that sports competitions were held last year after the devastating earthquake in 2005 and at present the sport activities are underway across the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, including Swabi.
The participants stressed for devising a strategy for educating students on the health benefits of sports. They said that PET union wanted to work for improvement of games in the province. They praised the provincial government for holding sports competitions despite threats.
PEACE WALK: Students of government high school, Swabi, held ‘Kashmir peace walk’ here on Wednesday.The students gathered in their school and marched along with their teachers to Kernal Sher Khan Chowk while holding placards and banners inscribed with slogans such as ‘Kashmir Baniga Pakistan.’
The students condemned Indian atrocities on unarmed Kashmiris and urged the world community to support the Kashmiris’ right to self-determination.
Later, they marched to the DCO office and handed over a memorandum to the assistant coordination officer.
