263 schools to be reopened: Nazim

DADU, Nov 10: At least 263 primary boys and girls schools, which had been closed down, would be reopened in the remote areas of the district where new buildings would be constructed for them.

This was stated by the district Nazim, Dadu, Malik Asad Sikandar, on Saturday while talking to this correspondent.

He said that he had received a list of schools in the far-flung areas of the district which were closed due to the shortage of staff, and added that now staff would be appointed in all the schools on merit basis after relaxation in the ban.

He said that the Sindh government had provided Rs197.241 million for the construction of buildings of educational institutions in the district, and added that the construction work would be supervised by the Nazims of the union council concerned.

Regarding health facilities, he said that the required equipment and medicines would be provided to all hospitals, health centres, and dispensaries in the district, while vacant posts of specialist doctors would be filled.

Talking about the law and order situation in the district, he said that he had received many complaints against corrupt police officials, and he would refer these complaints to the SSP, Dadu, and higher authorities concerned.

CRUSHED TO DEATH: An 80-year-old woman was crushed to death under the wheels of a vehicle while she was trying to cross the Kotri bridge on Saturday. The woman’s name could not be ascertained.

The driver fled in his vehicle.

CLUBBED TO DEATH: A man, Huzoor Bux (27), was clubbed to death by his cousin, Aijaz Ali, over a domestic dispute in Palari village in Thano Bula Khan Taluka on Friday night.

His brother went to the police station and had an FIR registered.
