LAHORE, Sept 16: The Lahore High Court on Monday directed Deputy Attorney-General Khwaja Saeeduz Zafar to ensure the presence of an army officer, accused of kidnapping his minor daughter, in his court on Tuesday (today).
Justice Khwaja Muhammad Sharif issued the orders on a petition filed by Nabiha Jawad, wife of Capt Syed Jawad Hussain Rizvi, accusing him of depriving her of their three-year-old daughter, and praying for the restoration of the possession of the suckling to her.
Deputy Attorney-General informed the court that Brig Usman of the General Headquarters had informed him that Capt Rizvi had proceeded on leave from Risalpur for attending the court proceedings. He had, however, not appeared in the court.
In another case, Justice Sharif directed the Mandi Bahauddin Superintendent of Police to get a case registered against the maternal uncle of Civil Judge Liaquat Ali Ranjha.
Riaz Bibi’s counsel submitted that Ghulam Haider, the maternal uncle of the judge, with his accomplices had trespassed in her house, taken away her buffalo and other valuables. They had returned the things later on the interference of the elders of the village but got her family implicated in a case.
No case had, however, been registered against them so far.
Justice Sharif also directed the Gujranwala Executive District Officer to submit a report on the petition of Muhammad Azam of Rahwali that he had not been recruited as a patwari against the 20 per cent quota.
In another case, Justice Sharif directed the Khushab Superintendent of Police to get a case registered against a friend of a former MNA and his 16 accomplices for destroying the crops of Muhammad Sulaiman of Mitha Tawana village.
Petitioner’s counsel submitted that Muhammad Husain had on July 16 destroyed his crops with the help of 16 others by ploughing the fields with tractors.
The patwari had confirmed the destruction of the crops in his survey report but the police had refused to register a case against the accused because he had the backing of an ex-MNA.
