LARKANA, Oct 21: A case has been registered against the owner of Nadra kiosk situated near the Post-Office for failing to deposit the money collected from electricity consumers against their dues. The amount was supposed to be deposited with the Revenue Department of the Sukkur Electricity Supply Company (Sesco), Larkana.

The SHO Market police station confirming registration of an FIR said that Sesco had approached police with the compliant that the owner of Nadra kiosk, Muthar Ali was not depositing the billing amount in the Revenue office. An FIR was lodged after consultation with the DPO.

The scam came to notice when owner of a local hotel received the paid amount of a bill as arrears in his next month's bill. He conveyed the matter to Sesco while producing the paid bill which proved that the owner of kiosk did not deposit the bill amount in the concerned revenue branch.

However, the owner agreed to pay back Rs200,000 to settle the matter. Sesco Chief Shamsuddin Shaikh communicated the matter to Director General Nadra and the executive engineer of the sub-division advised the consumers to approach the concerned sub-division for verification of the bills they had paid at the koisk.

Line Superintendent of Jinnahbagh sub-division Amjad Shaikh got registered the FIR with Market police, said the SHO.

Court official frees illegally held men

A court official let-off three persons kept in illegal confinement after it raided Baqapur police station on Thursday.

Mohammad Saleh Jalbani, a resident of Ratodero town, had filed a petition in the session court of Larkana accusing Baqapur police officials of picking up Imdad Ali Jalbani, Ghulam Rasool Jalbani, Sobdar Jalbani and Dost Muhammad Jalbani while they were returning to their home after attending the court three days ago.

They were kept in illegal confinement at the police station, the petitioner said and alleged that the police had been demanding bribe for their release. The court appointed an official Mukhtiar Lanjar as raid commissioner with the instructions to pay a surprise visit of the police station and locate the held persons.

When he reached at the police station, he found the three men in the lock up. The duty officer failed to produce any valid papers to authenticate the arrests which prompted the raid commissioner to release them. However, police told the commissioner that Dost Muhammad Jalbani was released on Wednesday. The SHO was asked to appear in the court along with the detainees and the documents, if any, to prove their arrest on Friday.
