NAWABSHAH, Sept 15: Announcing his party’s support to the Muttahida Qaumi Movement in the October polls, the JSQM chairman Bashir Qureshi has said that the MQM had struggled with the Sindhis on the issues of Thal canal, NFC Award and Kalabagh dam.
The chairman of the Jeay Sindh Qaumi Mahaz was speaking at a press conference here on Saturday.
Qureshi said that the nationalists were jailed, Baloch people were bombarded, Chashma link canal was constructed and head works of Thal canal were laid during successive Bhutto governments. He said his party would not take part in the upcoming elections as the 1973 Constitution did not recognize the Sindhis as a nation.
He accused the Sindhi landlords of never having struggled for the rights of the province, saying they feared the Punjabi establishment. He said that the MQM’s elected representatives had always stood along with the Sindhis while the PPP and the PML had always kept quiet on issues of vital interest of Sindh.
