HYDERABAD, Sept 24 Over 50 employees of Sindh Sports Board (SSB) are running from pillar to post for regularisation of their jobs, raise in salary and fixation of increment announced by government in last two years.

The employees of BPS-1 to BPS-16 including sweepers, gardeners, attendants, watchman and clerics, are serving in SSB-run Hyderabad Sports Complex, Hyderabad Club and its hostel. They said that matters of raise in their salaries since 2008 and fixation of increment had been pending but these are not being paid to them for inexplicable reasons.

“We are not being regularised despite repeated announcement by the SSB authorities and the provincial sports minister”, said an employee while talking to this correspondent.

They are told that a summary had been moved to Sindh government for their regularisation which is pending decision. The employees questioned that while summary is pending, why increment is not being fixed and raise in salaries are not being given to them.

Interestingly, according to them, some time back they were asked by incumbent sports complex assistant director and coordinator of Hyderabad Club, Rahat Ali Shah to submit data regarding their service.

“We are asked by Mr Shah to sign a contract in which we are required to submit surety of a BPS-17 officer. It was quite surprising for us because such surety was not even sought by the SSB when most of us were employed”, said another employee.

All the employees refused to sign the contract but submitted their data of service to the SSB through assistant director.

They have brought another important point to the fore that they were being paid salaries from the account of Hyderabad Club since January 2010 instead of the SSB account.

“We don't know why we are being paid salaries from Hyderabad Club's account and where the funds of SSB in the head of our salaries are being used”, employees questioned.

Hyderabad Sports Complex is an institution for hosting different sports events organised by the SSB. Over the last several years it has been converted into another Gymkhana sort of social club, offering membership only to the affluent or bureaucrats.

Mr Shah denied that the employees were asked to submit any surety of a BPS-17 officer. He, however, said that they are all contract employees and legally they are not entitled to any raise in salaries or increment fixation.

“I don't know how they were getting increment and raise in salaries from SSB”, he said.

The employees had refused to meet the director of the SSB, adding that their must be some legal hitch involved in their cases that's why their services are not being regularised.
