MUZAFFARABAD, Sept 7: A former AJK minister on Saturday demanded of the army’s top brass to hold an inquiry against a serving army officer for his alleged involvement in the massacre of three people in Kotli District late last month.
The victims belonging to Jat clan were sprayed with bullets in the Kala Dab village in the jurisdiction of Khuiratta police station on Aug 27, by the members of rival Rajput clan over the possession of some property.
Three of them died on the spot while nine others were wounded and hospitalized. The Jat party, affiliated with Peoples Party, named 27 members of the rival group in the FIR. Eight of them have been arrested by the police.
Speaking at a press conference, Chaudhry Mohammad Yasin, works minister of the previous People’s Party government, accused the government of backing the alleged killers, which he said, had led to the gory incident.
“Raja Mohammad Ayub, a serving lieutenant colonel, led the accused and I call upon the chief and the vice-chief of the army staff to hold an inquiry into this incident so that the perpetrators of the heinous crime are brought to justice”, he said. He accused district police chief Raja Razzaq of siding with the killers.
