KARACHI, Sept 9: The Millat-i-Jafria Alliance has said that it will observe Eid-ul-Fitr as a mourning day in protest against the tragedies of Karbala Gamay Shah in Lahore and Al Quds day in Quetta and appealed to the people to join Eid prayers wearing black armbands and hoist black flags at their residences and at important places.
Addressing a press conference on Thursday at the Karachi Press Club, chief of the alliance Allama Abbas Kumaili flanked by other leaders condemned the police for arresting innocent youths and demanded their immediate release.
He described the suggestion to curtailing important religious processions as a heinous conspiracy which was shameful and deserved condemnation.
He said that Millat-i-Jafria would never surrender its rights of taking out religious rallies, including the Eid Milad-un-Nabi, Ashura and Youm-i-Ali (R.A) processions.
He also strongly condemned the plan of burning copies of the Holy Quran in Florida, US.
Allama Kumaili said that on one hand, the country was facing devastations of the flood and on the other terrorists were targeting innocent people and wanted to destabilise the country to please their foreign masters.
