DERA GHAZI KHAN, Sept 6: Internal differences over PP-244 ticket have split the Millat party in the latest development.
Up against the selection crisis, the MP leaders are divided on the seat on which the party’s district President Dr Saleem and ex-Nazim Syed Aleem Shah, a new face in field, had set eyes.
The Millat party had earlier awarded this ticket to Aleem Shah, allegedly ignoring the district president. Reacting to the decision, Dr Saleem said he would resign, if the party did not allot him the ticket. However, district Nazim Haji Jamal Leghari took Dr Saleem to Choti Zaireen to convince him not to resign. They were in Choti Zaireen till last reports came in.
Meanwhile, Legharis of the party are reportedly trying to resolve the issue.
Old guards believe the Millat party has failed to evolve a strategy to face the selection poser. The rejection of nomination papers of Khwaja Daud of Taunsa Sharif for NA-171 was the first major blow to the party. Currently, the party is without any ‘potential’ candidate for NA-171, PP-240 and PP-241.
The crisis runs deep also at the party’s home-ground at Choti Zaireen where Shabbir Khan Leghari wanted to get ticket for PP-245 while Mohsin Khan Leghari was also eying it.
Millat Party chief Farooq Khan Leghari also submitted his nomination papers for PP-245. Shabbir Leghari, who has recently left Maqsood Leghari’s group and joined the MP, is likely to detach from the party in case of refusal. Latest reports suggest Farooq Leghari may contest from this constituency to end bickering.
