FAISALABAD, Sept 5: Citizens Police Liaison Committee (CPLC) chief Mushtaq Ali Cheema has resigned from his office because he is contesting elections for NA-83 as a PML-QA nominee.
This was stated by District Police Officer Zafar Abbas Luk, while speaking at a news conference here on Thursday.
He denied allegations that local police was backing any particular group or candidate of any political party in the district and that the station house officers were being posted at police stations at the recommendation of PML-QA candidates.
The DPO further said that local police had nothing to do with any political party and all possible assistance was being extended to all those approaching his office to get resolved their problems.
To a question, he said those who were complaining that the CPLC was being used for the election campaign of Mushtaq Ali Cheema were not fully aware of the factual position as he had already resigned.
