Teachers boycott classes

DADU, Sept 5: Primary and high-school teachers of the district boycotted their classes on Thursday and staged a protest demonstration in front of the local press club against non-payment of salaries to them for the last two months.

They were carrying banners and placards in support of their demand. Leaders of the Government School Teachers Association (GSTA)— Abdul Hameed Memon, Roshan Pirzado, Ms Tabassum Siddiqui and Ms Hamida Begum — led the demonstration.

Speaking to the protesting teachers, Mr Memon alleged that the officers of Dadu Accounts Office were demanding bribe from the clerks of education department to pass the salary bills of the teachers. And when they had refused to pay the money, the salary had been stopped.

He threatened that if the salaries were not released, the teachers would continue the protest.

Two kidnapped: A 20-year-old girl was kidnapped on Thursday here in Chhano Shahdad Muhalla.

Ms Pathani, mother of the girl, told police that four men had barged into her house and kidnapped Qazbano, daughter of Faqir Mohammad Laghari. She accused Dodo, Haji Guhram, Hussain and Gulab Jamali of abducting her daughter.

In the meanwhile, a group of armed men entered the house of Ghulam Mohammad Lashari on Thursday in Hari Camp Kotri and kidnapped Zahida, 24, wife of Abdul Karim Lashari.

BOOKED: Khanoth police booked 13 persons on Thursday for consuming electricity illegally. According to details, a team of Hesco Jamshoro sub-division on a tip-off had raided in the Khanoth town and found 13 illegal power connections.

The team cut all the illegal power connections and registered an FIR under Section 39 of Electric Act with Khanoth police, against the power thieves.

ROBBERY: Five dacoits barged in the house of Sher Mohammad Panhwar on Thursday in village Mitho Khan Lashari taluka Johi and took away with gold ornaments, electronic items etc., after they had tied up all the family members.

Mr Panhwar has registered an FIR against four accused — Fida Hussain, Khadim, Ghulam Hussain and Madad Khoso.

DEMO HELD AGAINST POLICE: A large number of citizens of Johi town, Nazimeen, Naib Nazimeen, and councillors of union councils of Johi Taluka staged a demonstration in Johi the otherday to protest against the Rukan police.

The demonstrators carrying banners and placards raised slogans against the SHO, Rukan police. They were led by the Nazim, union council Johi town, Mohammad Usman Jamali, councillors Pir Bux Babar, Hussana Thaheem, and Mumtaz Memon.

Mr Jamali said that the Rukan police had raided the house of the female councillor, Johi town union council, Mumtaz Memon, on Sunday night without a search warrant.
