LAHORE, Sept 3: Mr Justice M.A.Shahid Siddiqi of the Lahore High Court has sought a report on the Okara military farms incident from the superintendent of the police.
The judge sought the report while disposing of a writ petition filed by Lucus Masih for exhuming the body of his cousin Salman Masih allegedly killed as a result of firing by the Rangers and police on the tenants on the Okara military farms on Aug 24. He submitted that deceased Salman had been buried by the Rangers without a postmortem, which was necessary to determine the cause of his death.
The judge directed the petitioner to approach the area magistrate for ordering exhumation of the body of deceased Salman Masih for postmortem.
Checkup ordered: A division bench of the Lahore High Court comprising Mr Justice M.Javed Buttar and Mr Justice Abdul Shakoor Piracha has ordered medical examination of a person detained in an armed encounter case.
The judges issued the order disposing of an inter-court appeal of accused Asghar Ali lodged in the Kot Lakhpat Jail. Counsel M.D.Tahir contended that Gulshan-i-Ravi police had arrested the insane petitioner along with other people and recovered a pistol and four live cartridges from him after a shootout only to show its performance.
ORDER TO DPO: Mr Justice M.Javed Buttar of the Lahore High Court has directed the District Police Officer to restrain his subordinates from harassing a hotel employee.
Petitioner Muhammad Siddiq submitted that he was not involved in any case but police was raiding his house to arrest his relative. The police had also kept him in illegal detention to know the whereabouts of his relative.
frivolous petition: The Lahore High Court on Tuesday ordered summary trial of a Kamoki resident for filing a frivolous petition in the court.
A girl was produced in the court on the application of Ashfaq claiming that she was his wife and was being detained by her father against her will. The girl stated that she was residing with her father on her own free will and was not being detained by him.
Kamoki police station SHO, who produced the girl, also stated that she was not being detained by her father.
He said the girl had also recorded a statement denying detention by her father.
