KARACHI: Season’s hunting schedule announced

KARACHI, Nov 9: The Sindh Wildlife Department has announced the hunting schedule under which hunting of birds will be allowed on temporary licence from Nov 4, 2001 through Jan 27, 2002.

According to the schedule, hunting of partridges, sandgrouse and quails will be permissible on Sundays only. Only 10 partridges, sandgrouse and quails per licence, per day or 40 partridges/sandgrouse/quails per four-member or more shooting party per day is allowed.

Similarly, 15 ducks, coots, moorhen snipes, stints, dunlin, godwit, ruff, red shank or curlew shooting will be allowed per licencee or 60 birds for shooting party comprising 4 or more licencee per day. These birds could be hunted on Saturdays and Sundays only during the season.

The hunting of partridges, sandgrouse and quails is not allowed in areas including Taluka Keti-Bandar, Jam Nawaz Ali, Ghorabari, Mirpur Bathoro, Matiari, Latifabad, Tando Allahyar, Hala, Matli, Talhar, Mirpurkhas, Dadu, Johi, Khairpur Nathanshah, Thano Bolakhan, Kot Ghulammohammed, Nagarparkar, Umerkot, Pithoro, Daulatpur, Nawabshah, Nausheroferoze, Kandiaro, Kot Diji, Pano Aqil, Gambat, Kingri, Sukkur, Mirpur Mathelo, Ubaro, Kandhkot, Kashmore, Garhi Yasin, Lakki Ghulamshah, Warah, Shahdadkot, Dokri, Rato-Dero, Sanghar, Khipro, Malir, Karachi East and Karachi West.

The talukas of Thatta, Shahbandar, Mahal Kharochan, Mirpur Sakro, Sujawal, Jati, Tando Muhammad Khan, Tando Bago, Hyderabad, Golarchi, Fazil Raho, Badin, Mahal Kohistan, Kotri, Mehar, Digri, Kunri, Diplo, Chachro, Mithi, Sarhari, Sakrand, Faiz Gung, Bhirya, Sobho Dero, Thari Mir Wah, Nara, Khairpur, Rohri, Sehwan, Samaro, Ghotki, Khanpur, Jacobabad, Thul, Ghari Khairo, Shikarpur, Larkana, Miro Khan, Qambar, Sindhri, Tando Adam and Sinjhoro shall remain open for hunting.

The prohibited areas include National Park, wildlife sanctuaries, all game reserves, Kacho areas of Sindh between river protection bunds including Indus River, Cantonment areas and PAF Base, Bholari.—APP
