QUETTA, Aug 23: The Balochistan Bar Association has called for a three-day boycott of courts across the province in protest against the kidnapping of lawyers and accused the 'agencies' of being behind such disappearances. At a meeting of the association on Monday, the participants decided to boycott the court proceedings on Aug 24, 25 and 26.
BBA president Baz Mohammad Kakar presided over the meeting.
The lawyers condemned the kidnapping of Zaman Marri advocate and advocate Usman.
A statement issued by the association criticised the government and police for their failure to trace the lawyers.
It is pertinent to mention that two days ago the Adozai Qaumi Ittehad claimed responsibility for the kidnapping of Mr Marri, saying they did so because the lawyer was affiliated with the Baloch Liberation Army and was involved in the kidnapping of an Adozai tribesman.
Adozai is a sub-clan of Achakzai tribe and settled on both sides of the Pakistan-Afghan border.
The relatives of Mr Marri, in a statement, denied the lawyer had any link with any militant organisation or political party.
They appealed to chief justices of the Supreme Court and Balochistan High Court and human rights organisation to play their role in safe return of Mr Marri.
