LAHORE, Aug 29: Wapda’s revenue department has adopted a novel way to increase its income in some of the city localities.

It has adopted a habit of delivering bills in the last week of every month with ‘due date’ just around six days away. This practice has made the lives of salaried consumers miserable. It becomes difficult for them to arrange bills in time, thus forcing them to pay surcharge over and above the exorbitant electricity charges.

Many a consumer have complained about such a practice by Wapda for the past some months which puts them in great difficulty.

Their grievance, they added, has been quite genuine in view of the fact that most of the salaried people did not get salaries by the second of the month. Even those who were given their salaries through cheques on the first of the month have to wait for a day or two in order to get them encashed or credited in their accounts.
