LAHORE, Aug 29: Differences have reportedly cropped up in the top leadership of the Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal as Prof Sajid Mir, the head of one of the six constituents of the alliance, neither participated in the Rawalpindi-Lahore train march on Aug 28 nor attended a subsequent summit meeting held here late on Wednesday night.
Prof Mir told Dawn that he did not attend the events for his personal engagements.
When asked if he had differences over the distribution of MMA tickets, he said there could be issues other than this.
Asked if he would attend the next summit meeting scheduled for Sept 8 in Karachi, he said any decision in this regard would be taken keeping in view the circumstances.
According to some unconfirmed reports, Mr Mir, who is a loyalist of the Sharifs, was against the inclination of some alliance leaders towards pro-government elements.
Meanwhile, a meeting of provincial leadership of the MMA and the PML(N) was in progress here till late Thursday night to decide electoral adjustments in the Punjab, especially in Lahore.
