ISLAMABAD, July 6 Wapda on Tuesday proved their authority in the 42nd National Athletics Championship which begins at the Jinnah Stadium, Pakistan Sports Complex.
In the 10,000 metre women's event, Rabia Ashiq and Mishah Yousuf from Wapda secured first and second position completing the race in 4503.46sec and 4735.67sec respectively.
Parveen Akhtar and Saira Saeed from Wapda secured first and second position in the women's javelin throw event.
Parveen and Saira dispatched the javelin at 44.78 and 41.13 metres respectively.
Azhar Abbas from Wapda grabbed the top position in the hammer throw event, throwing the hammer at the distance of 61.49 metres while Army's Ghulam Shabbir stood behind Azhar, recording the distance of 60.64 metres.
Wapda's Rozina Shafqat bagged the top position in the women's high-jump event clearing the height of 1.50 metres while Sadia Kausar from Pakistan Steel was second with 1.45 metres.
In the women's shot put competition, Zareen Parveen from Wapda threw the ball at the distance of 12.86 metres while Nazia Ishaq from Pakistan Steel secured second position by throwing the ball 9.78 metres away.
Zara Razaq and Humaira Akmal from Pakistan Steel clinched the first and second position in women's pole vault final.
Zara crossed 3.06 metre height while Humaira cleared 2.70 metre height.
