ISLAMABAD, Aug 24: A three-day national polio immunization round will start from September 3.

Each year, about 1.7 million children die from diseases, which can be prevented with the help of readily available vaccines, a United Nations Children Fund (Unicef) report said.

So far five national and high-risk area rounds of administering polio drops have been carried out in Pakistan to protect children from dangerous diseases, which often lead to disability or death.

“All children have the right to this kind of protection (vaccination) against such disease,” the report said.

Pregnant women also need to be immunized to protect themselves and their children from tetanus.
