SWABI, Aug 22: The Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal (MMA) candidates filed on Thursday their nomination papers for the two national assembly and four provincial assembly seats.
Maulana Khalil Ahmad of JUI-F would contest election from the NA-12, Swabi-II, while district Jamaat-i-Islami amir from NA-13, Swabi-II.
Those who have filed the papers for provincial assembly seats included Mohammad Ali for PF-31, Umara Khan for PF-32, Maulana Fazal Ali for PF-35 and Mohammad Jamil for PF-36.
The PML-Q had awarded tickets to its leaders who may file their nomination papers on Friday. Sawabi District PML-Q President and former president of the Swabi Bar Association, Mohammad Sher Khan, is a candidate from NA-2 and Mohammad Javad Khan from NA-13.
The PML-Q has kept PF-31 and PF-32, Swabi-II, open and no ticket has been awarded to any candidate while the ticket for PF-33 has been given to Mohammad Sher Khan; for PF-34, Swabi-III, to Shaukat Khan; for PF-35, Swabi-V, to Sajjad Khan and for PF-36, Swabi-IV, ticket has been awarded to Pervez Khan Jadoon, nephew of former provincial food minister Ghafoor Khan Jadoon. The ex-minister was disqualified by the accountability court for 21 years in the Wheat Scandal Case.
The ANP has awarded tickets to Sheharyar Khan whose father and stepbrothers had joined the party a few days ago, quitting the disqualified Swabi Qaumi Mahaz. The ticket for NA-13 has been given to Mohammad Sadiq Khan of Topi. For provincial assembly seats, ANP awarded tickets for PF-31, PF-32, PF- 33, PF-34, PF-35 and PF-36.
From PML-N, Iftekhar Ahmad will contest from NA-13, Israr Khan from PF-36 and Dildar Khan from PF-31 while the PPP is seeking an alliance on the district level and seat-to-seat adjustment.
