PESHAWAR, Aug 22: Sarhad Petroleum Cartage and Dealers Association has expressed concern over the illegal sale of petrol and have asked the NWFP governor to take stock of the situation and stop the business of smuggled petrol.

In a statement, issued by the association on Thursday expressed concern over the violation of Petroleum Act of 1937 which prohibited sale and business of the commodity without taking precautionary measures.

They said petrol smuggled from Iran and Afghanistan was being sold on roadsides which might become the cause of some grim tragedy. The illegal dealers, the statement said could be found everywhere and were selling petrol at lower prices.

The unchecked sale of the petrol has not only affected their business but was also causing harm to the engines of the vehicles, the statement said.
