Rs440m budget for Malakand presented

PESHAWAR, Nov 7: The Zila Nazim of Malakand, Humayun Khan, on Wednesday presented Rs440 million budget for 2001-02.

The budget included about Rs158m annual income of the district government, Rs121m expenditures and about Rs316m as salaries. The budget session of the district council was presided over by Naib Nazim Syed Ahmad Ali Shah.

Humayun Khan said that the income of the district had been distributed in three sectors, including about Rs113m from the provincial government in the form of development, non-development grants and octroi and district tax.

He said about Rs316m would be provided under the head of salaries by the provincial government, while about Rs45m would come from the local fund. He said the income of the district for the year would be about Rs475m, adding that the district government would have a reserve amount of about Rs36m at the end of the year.

The Nazim said that Rs6.5 million would be utilized on 24 ongoing schemes in the district under the Khushal Pakistan Programme and another Rs30 million would be provided under the KPP for new schemes.

About Rs6 million would be provided to the district under the Social Action Plan, which would be utilized on the repair of primary and middle schools in Malakand.
