PESHAWAR, Aug 13: The Nazim of Azakhel Union Council, Nowshera district, has alleged the district Nazim was spending the funds meant for uplift schemes for the election campaign of his brother and has asked the government to take the Nazim to task for it.

Speaking at a news conference here on Tuesday, Qaviullah Khan, the Nazim of Azakhel Payan Nowshera, said that district Nazim Pervez Khattak had been aggressively campaigning for his brother to get him elected on the provincial assembly seat in the coming elections.

The Nazim, he said belonged to PPP (Sherpao) and was carrying out development works only in those areas where the people supported his party.

Flanked by his Naib Nazim, he alleged that the district Nazim had allocated the funds for development works to the office- bearers of PPP (Sherpao) which he said was against the Local Government Ordinance 2002. According to the ordinance, he said the development schemes should be carried out in consultations with the respective councillors and Nazimeen.

“We included a scheme in the annual development programme for electrification of a village falling in the jurisdiction of Azakhel Payan but the feasibility report went missing from the District Nazim’s office,” said he, adding that all the affairs of the district government were being run without taking the elected members into confidence. According to him, Mr Khattak had been ignoring the elected people and was spending funds to appease the individuals in order to get their votes in the next general election for his brother.
