PESHAWAR, Aug 13: NWFP Revenue, Excise and Taxation Minister Aminullah Khan

Gandapur has agreed to extend the exemption from penalty up to Sept 30, for owners of vehicles of PR, PRA, PRB, PRC and PRD series who have failed to obtain computerized number-plates.

He was discussing with a delegation of the Transporter Association the issue of imposition of penalty on vehicles having registration in PR, PRA, PRB, PRC and PRD series at the rate of Rs3,000, Rs2,000 and Rs500 for those who failed to obtain computerized number-plates by Sept 30, 2001.

The minister disagreed with a proposal to grant concession to the commercial vehicles of tribesmen.

The concession was granted in 1985 by the governor and was discontinued in 1986, later it was allowed till June 30, 1997. The association demanded separation of Motor Registering Authority offices for commercial and private vehicles.
