Police detained at least ten activists, who were leading the demonstration, from the Jammu Kashmir Democratic Freedom Party (JKDFP).
The protesters, who included women and were holding placards, shouted anti-United States slogans.
“Help Afghans to live in peace, respect sovereignty and independence of Afghanistan,” one placard read.
JKDFP chief Shabir Ahmad Shah was put under “house arrest”, police said. The All Parties Hurriyat Conference has denounced attacks on the Taliban.—Reuters
