Pakistan Army gets US Howitzer guns

KARACHI The US Army handed over Howitzer guns to Pakistan Army at a ceremony held on Saturday, an ISPR press release said.

Brigadier Michael K. Ngata, Deputy Chief ORDP, handed over 115 Howitzer guns to Brigadier Farrukh Saeed, Commander Artillery, Mechanised Division.

The US-made M109A5 Howitzer is an indirect support weapon of manoeuvre brigades of Armoured and Mechanised Infantry Division.

The rifle's characteristics such as high muzzle velocity, long barrels, long range, multiple charges and maximum elevation angles (greater than 45 degrees) classify it as an effective weapon in the field.

The ceremony was attended by US Consul General in Karachi Steve Fakan, officers of US armed forces and the Pakistan Army.
