MITHI, Aug 9: The members of the Tharparkar District Council have termed the rape of Padu Bai, a young woman of Kagia village, Chhachhro taluka, the most shocking and shameful incident in the district and demanded immediate arrest of her rapists and exemplary punishment to them.

The motion to this effect was tabled by a woman councillor, Tara Bai, in the session of the district council, held here on Thursday. She deplored two FIRs had been registered against a police constable and a goldsmith on the rape charges but the local police had not arrested the accused.—BoC
