Pakistan grab judo gold, cycling silver at SAG

DHAKA After a superb performance by the women on Saturday, Pakistan's male cyclists also managed to grab a silver medal, winning the 80-KM Road Team Trial Cycling event of 11th South Asian Games on Sunday.

The Pakistani team, comprising of Haroon Rashid, Muhammad Rafique, Nisar Ahmed, Sabir Shah covered the distance from Khulna to Gopalgonj in 1 hour 45 min 59.11 seconds.


Team India led by Amandeep Singh, Harpreet Singh, Rajendera Kumar and Sabu Ganjeras took one hour 44.11.81 seconds to bag gold while host Bangladesh took the bronze medal.


Earlier on Saturday, Pakistan women won the 30-KM road race silver medal.


Pakistan team comprising of Ayesha Amin, Misbah Mushtaq, Rahila Bano and Sidra Sadaf covered the distance in 47 minutes 04.6 seconds.


India clocked 44 min 22.15 second to grab the gold while Sri Lanka which has dominated the event contended with the bronze medal.

Tanveer Ahmed earned the first gold medal for Pakistan by winning the 81kg Judo event.
