JHANG, Aug 6: Massan police agreed to register a gang-rape case only after the bribe money they demanded was paid to them. This was claimed by the father of the victim and complainant of the case, Muhammad Sharif.
Talking to this correspondent, Sharif said three miscreants — Muntizar, Iqbal and Tassawar — entered his house in Kharken village, in the jurisdiction of the Massan police station, during night by scaling the boundary wall and subjected her teenaged daughter (r) to gang-rape at gunpoint after dragging her inside a room.
One of the armed rapists continued to stay guard in the courtyard to keep other inmates silent at gunpoint. The next day Muhammad Sharif reported the matter to the Massan SHO, who allegedly refused to register the case unless he was paid Rs 10,000 as bribe.
The complainant came back to the police station, accompanied by some notables of the area, who requested the SHQ to reduce the amount, keeping in view the poverty and condition of the complainant.
The SHQ, ultimately, agreed to register the case against an amount of Rs 6000.
