MIRPURKHAS, Aug 5: On the directives of the AIG, Hyderabad region, the DPO, Mirpurkhas, has suspended the SHO, Old Mirpur, and two other officials on the charges of remaining absent from duty and detaining persons illegally.
It was learnt from a reliable source that on July 31, the AIGP, Hyderabad, Abdul Rauf Yousufzai, had paid a surprise visit to the Old Mirpur police station. On checking the register, he found no entry regarding the departure of the SHO, Bhuromal Khatri, and Abdul Qadir Khaskheli, WHC, while WPC Asghar Ali was already on leave.
The AIGP also found four men — Sher Mohammed, Lal Bux, Qadir Bux, and Mohammed Hashim — being illegally detained at the police station without an entry in the register.
He ordered the DPO, Mirpurkhas, Pir Mohammed Abbasi, to suspend the above three officials and order an inquiry.
CLOSED SCHOOLS BE OPENED: The acting district Nazim, Mohammed Younus Talpur, has asked the authorities concerned to open the closed schools in the rural areas and appoint teachers there on the basis of merit.
He was speaking at a meeting of officers of the district education department on Monday.
He said that male teachers be also posted in the girls primary schools situated in the rural areas.
DISTRICT COUNCIL: The District Council has passed a resolution unanimously against the director, Nara Canal Water Board, for not attending the district council session and for not replying to the questions sent to him on behalf of the district council.
This was decided at its meeting held at the Bhittai Cultural Hall on Monday.
GROWERS: The chairman, Farmers Organization Council and member, Sindh Irrigation Drainage Authority, Syed Ali Gohar Shah, has regretted that no money was released by the government for rehabilitation of the irrigation system in Sindh, which had been announced by President Pervez Musharraf, while there was a great need for funds to reduce the development of breaches in the canals.
Talking to newsmen on the other day, he said that about 14,400 cusecs of water was being supplied to the Nara Canal, but the authorities were still implementing the rotation programme, resulting in breaches at the canals.
