HYDERABAD, Aug 2: The Sindh Chief Secretary has ordered an inquiry into the Rohri Canal breach which was not plugged till Friday even after a lapse of five days.
The inquiry would be conducted by a three-member committee, headed by the senior member, Board of Revenue, and Relief Commissioner Manzoor Hussain Bhutto with two chief engineers as its members.
The committee will submit its report in three days.
The committee will decide why the measures, decided to be taken in a meeting of the flood and relief committee held two days before the breach, were not adopted and who is responsible for that. What was level of response of different authorities/departments/officials after the breach occurred on July 28 and what type of measures should be taken in case of such an event in future.
Sindh Chief Secretary K.B. Rind visited the site of breach.
He also visited the relief camps and distributed some packets, containing soaps, slippers and clothes among the affected people.
