ISLAMABAD, July 30: The interior minister, Lt-Gen Moinuddin Haider (retired), here on Tuesday directed the Capital Development Authority (CDA) to resume the development work in sector D-12 within next two days.
The directives were issued at a meeting which held at the CDA headquarter less than 24 hours after a violent clash between the landholders and law-enforcement agencies.
The minister said the development work would be resumed in the “larger interest of the allottees”, who were waiting for the development of the sector since a long.
Earlier, on Monday, the interior ministry had ordered a judicial inquiry into the incidence.
The minister warned that those who were involved in creating law and order situation would be dealt with in accordance with the law.
The minister also expressed his grief over the sad incident and expressed sympathies with the aggrieved families and the officials who suffered injuries.
The minister said the genuine grievances of the affected people should be redressed.
“It was unfortunate that law and order situation was created despite assurance by the elders of the affected people as well as the CDA’s efforts to resolve the issue. He said genuine people should be given their due right.
The meeting was briefed about the history of land acquisition by the CDA in sector D-12 in 1985.
The CDA chairman, Mir Laiq Shah, said 938 acres of land was acquired by the CDA in Siri Saral and Pind Sangrial against cash compensation amounting to Rs267 million which had been paid as per the authority’s policy under the CDA Ordinance 1960.
In addition, 1200 residential plots and six agriculture plots of 2.5 acres each worth Rs450 million were allotted to the affected people, he added.
He said the affected people demanded some other benefits like a quota in all CDA jobs, reviewing of court cases, allotment of agro farms and additional residential plots.
