PESHAWAR, July 30: A former chief minister of Punjab, Malik Ghulam Mustafa Khar, on Tuesday visited the People’s House and held a meeting with Aftab Ahmed Khan Sherpao, president of his own faction of the PPP. According to a statement, Mr Khar discussed with Mr Sherpao the political situation, particularly the forthcoming general elections.
Mr Sherpao visited the residence of Jamaat-i-Islami chief Qazi Hussain Ahmed.
They were of the view that the only way to save the country from dictatorship lay in the holding of free, fair, and transparent elections. Both leaders expressed concern over the US war against Afghanistan and killing of innocent Afghans by the coalition forces.—Bureau
