PESHAWAR, July 27: Construction work on a model integrated rural health care facility has been inaugurated along the Indus Highway in the Mithakhel union council in Karak Tehsil, says a press release issued here on Saturday.

The project is funded by the Trust for Voluntary Organizations (TVO) through the European Commission (EC) grant.

The project — the community preventive health care unit — is estimated to cost over Rs6.5 million, with TVO-EC as the main donor by contributing 54.20 per cent of the total cost.

The executing agency of the project, Community Uplift Programme (CUP), is contributing 30.54 per cent of the estimated cost, while the beneficiary communities’ share of Karak Tehsil is 15.26 per cent.

Trust for Voluntary Organizations regional officer Amjad Zeb Khan handed over the cheque of the first instalment to the executive management of the CUP at the inauguration ceremony.

After completion, the health unit will be managed on a sustainable basis through a programme management board comprising members from the CUP and beneficiary communities.
